i posted that picture above because i like it. and since this is a blog that is solely for our records, i figure i can do that once in a while.
moving on....the picture below is wonky, but where we at has been an important part of living in nyc. branden and i went to the columbia film festival in may to support a friend who had a movie in the festival (and they have had a baby...congrats kate! so so excited to meet the little one). in our time in the morningside heights ward we spent a great deal of time with film-makers, actors, PR professionals, graphic design artists, lawyers, bankers, musicians, and academics. there was SO much variety in what people did and their interests. i have such a better appreciation for all the types of work people can do. and yet, oddly, i feel like for all our different interests, at the bottom of it all, we're really not all that different. (can you tell it's getting late as i write this? the depth of my thought is pretty darn shallow considering the amazing things we have experience while in this ward.) suffice it to say-it has been a wonderful experience to be here in nyc. it's been amazing to see the scripture, where christ describes all of us as being different parts of one body, come to life in our own personal community.
