night on the intrepid

we had a date night (our first with two littles!!  and maybe last for a while) and went and saw an outdoor movie on the deck of the intrepid.  it was FUN!  very romantic with the city lights.  (and let's not forget the tiny baby on my chest...ha!)

and JAWS was scary.  branden and i chatted about the movie at the end-and realized that more than half the movie is just suspense.  nothing is really happening that requires any special effects...which what makes it such a classic.  no special effects are needed to give you that tingly feeling of fear.  we were lucky enough to have old friends and new combined.  jake and jessica joined from utah and the checketts met up for the date night as well.  this was just half of the crew-but we had to hurry home for the sitter and missed photos with the other half...wah wah.  (and let's not forget my big brother and sister in law. we split a sitter for the night...LOVE it)

for those of you in nyc who want to try this-the line was super long-but we had no problems getting in (even though the staff told us we had a 50/50 chance of getting in).  there's quite a bit of space on the deck and it's pretty easy to squish.  there was a chance of rain, so i'm guessing there weren't quite as many people as there would have been.  i would recommend bringing a chair.  it's pretty uncomfortable to sit on the concrete after a few hours.   if you want to be sure to get in-arrive about 30 minutes to an hour before the doors open.  happy movie night!

it's that city skyline that really keeps us going back for this activity.

  1. I was too scared to watch Jaws when it came out in the theater because I figured I'd never go back to the beach. When I moved to Boston I watched it -- scary!!
