the bronx zoo!

memorial day we made a trip out to the bronx zoo.  and we loved it!  hugo is at the perfect age.  he got excited about every animal we saw and practiced all of the animal noises he knew.  and it wasn't too crowded-especially considering it was a holiday.

the giraffes.  i felt like we were on safari as we watched them from afar.

checking out the wild dogs exhibit.  he touched all of the cut out plastic dogs and yelled 'gah!'.
(he says dog backwards right now)

hanging out with dad. (so serious right?)

there is nothing better than watching a little person discover the world anew.  and it doesn't hurt that the zoo is one of my favorite places of all time too.

yes. the elephant was this close.  amazing.  hugo kept pointing and repeating 'wow! wow!  wow!'.   (we took the asian monorail.  highly recommend-if you plan on doing it though-get in line first thing in the morning to avoid the rush.  zoo membership holders go for free)

prewalski's horse (yes.  i have a thing for the quadripeds ;)

he LOVED the flamingos.  every time one of them would flap their wings or make a sound he would gesture wildly and laugh.  i always thought flamingos were a little boring-leave it to the little guy to find them hilarious.

dad just showing him the ropes.
(it's photos like this one that really surprise me-look how dark branden is and how blonde hugo is!  it sort of amazes me at how different they are.  i always assumed our kids would be in the middle between us coloring-wise.  but hugo is just about as blonde as i was as a kid)

  1. How fun. I can't wait until Lincoln gets excited at the zoo. He does love our dogs, so that's a step, right? Hugo is so adorable. What a perfectly cute face!!
Also, love the Bronx Zoo. New York never ceases to amaze you--first a giant park in the middle of the Manhattan, next a huge zoo in the middle of the Bronx.
I would love to get together the next time you're in town! Just drop me a line!
