easter parade

every year, the easter bonnet parade marches down fifth avenue.  this isn't your typical parade, it's mostly a bunch of people taking pictures of the crazies (myself and quite a few ladies in our relief society included) that are wearing fancy decorated bonnets.  and then there's the crazy photographers following them around and taking pictures.  and yes, i was also one of those crazy people photographing too.

side-note: whenever there is a gathering of people, particularly tourists, you can be sure that the street artists will be there.  and somehow it seems that it's the street artists with the most boring talents that end up in the middle of the biggest crowds.  i may be getting jaded, but those street artists that do the flips over people and such are really not my favorite.  they take F.O.R.E.V.E.R to do anything interesting and make everyone waits while they go around gathering these poor tourist's money.  and when they finally do something, it's not necessarily all that interesting.  and they always take the biggest spots for street performing.  we passed an incredible jazz band on our way to fifth avenue and i wish that they had been on fifth avenue instead.  why don't the musicians ever get the good street performing spots?  anyway. end rant.

continuing... after enduring the crowds and craziness of fifth avenue we made our way back into the park for a impromptu picnic.  we had lost the rest of our group in the crowd and ended up sticking with those other families who had strollers.  babies!
it was a lovely easter.  that evening we went home and watched the amazing bible videos that the church just completed.  it was beautiful and a perfect ending to a day for celebrating new life and the resurrection.
