sunday spotlight

as a new mother, and even more so, as a young woman, i'm constantly re-evaluating and figuring out who i want to be and what it means to be a daughter of god.  a few months ago-as i was listening to general conference, i heard the following quote.

“What-e’er thou art, act well thy part.” (source here)

it was Elaine S. Dalton speaking and she was teaching us that no matter what our part in life is we have value and importance. i have often felt inadequate in my responsibilities as a mother and wife.  but, this is a powerful call for us to remember who we are, what we care about, and how our daily lives are a part of our identity.  and as we fulfill daily tasks with purpose and an eye for the eternal, we are growing our souls.

i am lucky to be surrounded by women who are daily "acting well their part" through lives of devotion, of virtue, and sincere beauty. in a very small way, i wanted to recognize their examples by capturing powerful portraits of them (a skill that i hope to continue to hone through this series), interviewing them, and sharing those interviews and photos with my friends and family through this blog series.  starting today, i plan to do a monthly post.  i hope that these portraits will give a glimpse into my dear friend's lovely souls and remind us all of our own divine identities.
