just catching up...

it seems that every time i sit down to write an update, my brain blanks.  i was talking with branden last week about it.  my mind seems to go blank not only when i sit down to write but when i go to have a conversation as well.  as we chatted, i think we came to the conclusion that i am tired.  and i am completely engulfed by these little ones of mine.  it is a happy cocoon-my creativity, energy, and problem solving skills are being utilized.  (i mention this because i feel like exhaustion can easily be confused with unhappiness and child-rearing is often described as mind-numbing)  but it leaves me rather poor with words and boring on this here blog of mine.  but while this time is all-encompassing-it also will fly by so quickly.  and i want to be able to remember the blur.  so, here's what is being blurred over the last two weeks.

1) we saw a mouse.  actually, i saw a mouse.  in our kitchen.  i should have been more upset by the whole thing-but while they do carry diseases, mice are still pretty darn cute.   no sighting since and can't find droppings anywhere.  but we're taking precautions now anyway...

2)  i'm listening to disney tunes on pandora right now.  both kids are sleeping.  here's just a snippet of the little girl....

3) i went on a trip to florida with my family.  branden stayed home and worked.  it was a great trip!  i'll recap soon enough.  but i did miss my favorite person.  he ended up working insane hours while i was gone...and sadly those hours have continued since my return.  but we start a two week vacation this weekend....! (i know-we're loving how much time off they give him... they just work him in between vacations hard enough that he probably wouldn't survive without those vacays.)

4) while branden has been working insane hours (he's clocking 60 billable hours by fridays right now) the weekends are our saving grace.  saturday mornings we do brunch, hit up the park, and refuel.  (saturday afternoon he's back to the grind) city life wouldn't be complete without central park.  a few weeks ago we hit up the boathouse.  it was just barely worth the wait-the food was pretty good, but the view knocked my socks off.  nothing prettier than dining al fresco watching row boats float by.

5) how is summer almost over?  suddenly it's cooling off and the splash pads aren't quite as tempting.  however, i'm sort of glad that the water features will be turned off.  hugo is just over a case of hand foot mouth disease (yeah, it sounds gross-but turned out to not be that bad) which i am told is caught through saliva and water foutains.  yuck.

and i'll close this post with one of my favorite pictures to date....
